REAL NEWS: BREAKING NEWS: O.J. Simpson Has Died at 76

O.J. Simpson, the former football great who was accused of and ultimately acquitted of the brutal 1994 slayings of his ex-wife and her friend, has died, according to his family. He was 76.

"On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace," a statement from his family said.

The former American football star and actor, born on July 9, 1947, is mostly known for his career in the National Football League (NFL), where he played as a running back for 11 seasons, primarily with the Buffalo Bills.

However, Simpson's life took a dramatic turn when he was accused of the murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, in 1994. The subsequent trial, often referred to as "The Trial of the Century," was one of the most widely publicized events in American history. Simpson was acquitted of the murders in criminal court in 1995 but was later found liable for both deaths in a civil trial in 1997.

In 2007, Simpson was arrested in Las Vegas and charged with felonies including armed robbery and kidnapping. In 2008, he was convicted and sentenced to 33 years imprisonment, with a minimum of nine years without parole. He served his sentence at the Lovelock Correctional Center near Lovelock, Nevada. On July 20, 2017, Simpson was granted parole. He was eligible for release from prison on October 1, 2017, and was released on that date.
